On April 14, 2012, Sharptown Church will be partnering with Stop Hunger Now to package 12,000 dehydrated meals to be used in areas experiencing a food crisis. Using an assembly line process, families with children as young as 5 years old can come out and help us reach our goal in under two hours. This program has perfected the assembly process that combines rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavoring mix including 21 essential vitamins and minerals into small meal packets. Each meal costs only 25 cents. The food stores easily, has a shelf-life of five years and transports quickly. The food packages are sent to over 70 different countries where they support school lunch programs, orphanage meal programs, or are handed out to victims of natural disasters.

Over the next three months, Sharptown will be collecting the quarters needed for each meal. For every quarter donated, another meal can be packed and sent to someone in need. Join us in our endeavor to gather enough quarters to package 12,000 meals!
